At the moment, NZOSS needs active members far more than it needs money. So, could we offer a significant membership discount to people are are already paid up members of an international software freedom org?
The obvious example if people who are paid up members of FSF. If OSI and Conservancy have individual paid memberships, I’d count those too. RMS-phobic people might join FSF Europe instead of FSF US. There may be Australian organisations people here join. We’d need an official list of orgs we apply this policy to, and a pre-agreed process for adding and removing orgs from the list.
We could offer a discounted membership to paid up members of the orgs on the list, say $10 a year to become an Associate Member. With full rights of participation, including use of member-only services, but maybe only speaking rights at General Meetings, not voting rights? Thoughts?
