Link spam wave in the fediverse

Someone is auto-generating accounts to send link spam, written in Asian characters. Blocking each spam account doesn’t help, because there’s always new ones. I’ve been trying to report some of this, but I suspect a bug in FediLab is preventing the reports being sent.

Over the past few days I’ve been bombarded with link spam posts from a number of servers, including;

m.corduba.tech
seda.social

misskey.ee

I suggest that the mastodon.nzoss.nz mod team;

  1. Temporarily Limit these domains to stop the flow of spam

  2. Inform that admins of the affected servers of this action, and advise them to flip account creation to invite-only until they can figure out how to prevent this. Warn them that by taking no action, they risk ending up blocked by the rest of the fediverse.
